Michael Steinlauf is an Associate Professor of History at Gratz College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Professor Steinlauf is the only child of Polish Holocaust survivors who survived, in hiding, on Polish soil. (Only about 50-70,000 Jews survived on Polish soil.) His parents were both from Warsaw; his mother went to the University of Warsaw and taught history before she went into hiding.
